Negaunee - Sometime ago a tunnel was constructed by the DSS&A to drain the waters south of Lincoln street into the creek, but it was found inadequate for the work and another tunnel is being built to connect with the old one. this will accelerate the flow of water and it is hoped will drain the marsh, which has been flooded since the Elba mine commenced operations. The land now covered by water is owned by the Iron Cliffs Co., and is too valuable to be made useless by overflowage. The Iron Cliffs Co., is building the new tunnel, which will be about 60 feet in length and will cost considerable money. It will be finished about two weeks.
