Makes 'Em Hustle
Ishpeming - There was organized at Milwaukee last April the Wisconsin and Michigan Car Service Association, the object of which is to have cars unloaded within a specified time after they are placed on the side track of any station. If a car remains beyond the regulation time it is reported to headquarters at Milwaukee lines, and a fine is imposed on the agent of the road at the station from which the complaint comes. The DSS&A and this division of the C&NW did not back members of the association until january 1, this year, and every precaution is being taken by the local agents to see that they do not get any more than their share of fines. Mr. D. M. Philbin, of Marquette, superintendent of the DSS&A, was here Thursday looking over the yards and he was apparently puzzling his brain to figure out the yard room here for additional side tracks where empties might be placed, as the local freight crew unload cars in such quick order that they can't find room for the empties. The Association is promoting prompt freight service.
