An accident occurred on the DSS&A switch engine, Monday afternoon, by which Ed Young, the fireman, Will Rashley and Henry Sand were very seriously burned and young Sand may lose his sight as a consequence. The engine had been ordered out to assist the freight over Fewsville hill. In returning to this place, the petcock of the smoke stack, we believe that is what they call it, dropped down shutting off the draft and causing an accumulation of gas which exploded, throwing hot coals and cinders from the fire box all over them. Considering the force the explosion it is a wonder they escaped alive.
