On the Through Line
Negaunee - When the DM&M [Detroit, Mackinac & Marquette Railroad Company] branch to the Sault is completed, which will be early next summer, and the MH&O [Marquette, Houghton, and Ontonagon Railroad] is extended to Ashland, later in the season, Negaunee will rise in importance as a trading center. The distance from Chicago to Wisconsin points on Lake Michigan, will be about the same via Negaunee as by Eau Claire as Negaunee will be the transfer point from the south to the east and west on the northern rail route; it will largely increase the present transfer business. The recent changes in railroads will undoubtedly result in the running of more through passenger trains on both roads. Negaunee will then have no chance to complain of its railway service.
