Caused by the Railroads
In addition to the general activity in business the merchants of the city report a heavy trade with the different contractors who are building the DSS&A. One firm, that of Watson & Palmer, recently sold over 400 pairs of blankets for the railroad camps, besides several hundred bed ticks. So much ticking was required that none was left in the city and the firm had to hurry an order for 2,500 yards of it to be prepared for it for further demands. They now make up the ticks and keep them on hand in lots of 100 each. Other merchantile houses in the city are enjoying an equally heavy trade from the new road.
