Accident Report - September 10, 1887.
An accident occurred on the Duluth South Shore and Atlantic
Railway at St. Ignace station on the 10th day of September 1887
at 830 o'clock A.M. caused by:
Yard engine while backing up from the yard to go on the ore
dock with a train of loaded ore cars, at Maloney street crossing a man Andrew Soloman, alias "Crazy John" walked in
front of the cars and was run over on the right foot and left leg; he was taken to the hospital, the left leg and the toes on the right foot were amputated, he is progressing favorably.
Casualties resulting from the above accident - 1 person injured.
