Michigamme, Aug. 22 - The roof of the South Shore tank house was destroyed by fire Monday afternoon and but for the timely assistance of the fire department the fine brick roundhouse and tank would have gone. Both were on fire. Five minutes after the alarm of the locomotive, water was doing effective work and within twenty minutes no fire was to be seen. The fire had been smoldering for some time. It was probably started by a spark from an engine. The fire company did splendid work as usual and Mr. Dolf the agent wishes to thank them for their prompt response to the alarm.
