Cut in the Pine Woods
Ishpeming - The cut of pine logs this winter at the various camps of the Michigan Lumber Co., will exceed that of last winter by several million feet. There are now ten camps, employing about 500 men on Dead River, and 25,000,000 feet of logs have been skidded, half of which are banked. About 5,000,000 feet more will be cut this winter.
On the Peshekee River, north of Michigamme, there are five camps, employing about 200 men, who have already skidded six million feet of logs, and will cut about as much more. At this rate the cut for the present season will exceed that of last winter by about four or five million feet.
The timber is from lands owned by T. H. McGrath, the Detroit lumber operator and pine land owner, and the cut has been bought by the Cleveland Saw Mill & Lbr. Co. The larger part of the cut will be sawed at the Hawley mill at Marquette, the balance being to
