Description
Cyanotype photograph of the old (first) Iroquois Hotel , looking south across Portage Avenue . This hotel was dismantled at Mullet Lake and reassembled at this spot by W . C . Smith . It burned down in 1898 , and the new Iroquois Hotel was erected on the same spot . House to left is George Kemp's home , while that to right of hotel is W . C . Smith's residence . The white house is the George Brown (first mayor , '86) home , occupied at the time of photograph by Tryoer . Photograph taken from boat that was passing in the Weitzel Lock .
